We attended the Russell Athletic Bowl for the 2nd time in the last 3 years and both times were really fun! The bowl game is held every year at the Orlando Citrus Bowl. We obtained our tickets as part of our membership with Florida Citrus Sports. This year we decided to have our own mini-tailgating party. We ended up parking in lot 1, located on Central and really close to the Citrus Bowl. We did have a fan who drove down from Louisville park beside us but for the most part, the fan base in lot 1 were decked out in Miami Hurricane colors. The day was perfect with just the right temperature, good snacks, a few beers, a little corn hole and laughs with good friends.
The game did not go well for the Miami fans. Louisville dominated early and by time the 3rd quarter was ending, so too was the fun for many of the Hurricane fans as they started for the exits. Not being a real fan of either team, we joined them and headed home just before the start of the 4th quarter. Fortunately for us, the fireworks show was held at half time, so our leaving before the end of the game did not result in our missing the light show.
If you get a chance to attend an event at the Citrus Bowl, I would suggest you do. Throughout the year there are many events held there that should appeal to most anyone living in or near Orlando!
The City of Kissimmee Parks & Recreation Department will host its 15th annual Sunshine Regional Chili Cook-Off. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, at the Kissimmee Civic Center.
